Myanmar Project 2007

Date: 24 Sept - 8 Oct (15 days)
Cost: $550 (after subsidy) / $1100 (no subsidy)

Programme Highlights
Will be visiting three Day-Care Centres, painting a wall mural, getting wooden floor tiling, lessons for the children, and many more activities that would be a unique experience!

Wealth of Love

Wealth of Love is approaching us in 2 days time! Let's all work together and collect as many items as possible. Keep the spirits high and uplifting! Moral home for the disabled will be out beneficiary and we will work towards one of our goals, that is to raise funds to aid them.

All members, do turn up punctually for the event. All the months of hard work and preparation boils down to Sunday, 1st July 2007. It will definitely be a memorable event for every LEOs and volunteers present.

Thank you to everyone who registered themselves as volunteers. Your effort will make a difference.

Hello all!

Christian Outreach to the Handicapped (COH) will be holding their Flag Day fund raising event this year end. Having missed out on the chance to hold a flag day last year, they are looking forward to receiving a good response this year.

As an independent, inter-denominational Christian organization, their expenses are funded mostly from donations from the public. And all these are incurred to run a day activity centre for people aged 16 and above, diagnosed with Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, autism and/or multiple disabilities. They serve all patients regardless of their racial, religion and financial backgrounds.

Details of event

With a great reputation of contributing to the community, Ngee Ann Poly would like to lend a helping hand in this project. This mass event will need an estimated number of 1,000 student volunteers to raise a targeted amount of $70,000.

CCA Points will be awarded for all volunteers.

BA CARES Newspaper Collection

There's a newspaper collection coming up for BA CARES. This time round the beneficiary will be "Riding for the Disabled Association". The sum raised will be used in providing free therapeutic horse riding lessons to children and adults with disabilities in Singapore.

World Lions Service Day [8th Oct 06]

On 8th October Sunday, we will be bringing to Sentosa around 40 children from 3 schools: Spastic Children's Association of Singapore, Margaret Drive Special School and Balestier Special School. These children are from less fortunate family backgrounds.

Some are wheelchair bound or on crutches, while others are autistic. They all require the company and care of family members. On top of that, 6 social workers will also be joining. On the whole, there will be around 90 people. The program is as follows.

NP Leo club will be having our annual Fellowship event on 27th May2006(Sat).
This is an event organised to allow all the new members in Leo Club to get to know more about the club as well as to interact with the rest of the members. As it will be the very first time all the new members are meeting each other, it is very important that the members attend the event.
Through the event, the members will not only get to know what LEO actually stands for but also the upcoming projects of the club. Briefly, we will start off with a short powerpoint presentation about the club, followed by a range of fun and interactive games prepared by our game masters, it's just like a schoolwide amazing race!

Dear Friends,

Volunteers needed for Wealth of Love

We, Leo Club of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Leo Club of Singapore Raffles City and our sponsoring Lions Club of Singapore Raffles City, are mainly involved in community services such as hosting festive celebrations, organizing visits to Old Folks’ & Children’s Home of Singapore. Funds are also raised for the Homes through fund-raising projects.

This year, 2006, our Beneficiary is the Boys’ Town, an unique Catholic Institution dedicated to providing guidance, shelter, education, vocational training and practical living skills to youth. They have three dormitories housing 100 teenage boys. Home supervisors are on 24-hr duty to provide guidance; assistance and coordinate programmes and counseling needs are provided by their social workers.

Currently we are working on a fundraising project, “Wealth of Love”. This project is an islandwide street sale to raise fund for Boys’ Town Singapore through the sales of candies.

Date of event: 26 March 2006 (Sunday)
Time: Shift A – 9.15am to 2.30pm
Shift B – 1.15pm to 6.30pm
Guest-of-Honour: Mr Chia Mia Chiang, our Principal.
Collection point: Youth Park (opposite Cineleisure Complex)
Sales location: Along Orchard Road/ Marina Square/ Bugis/ Suntec City
Volunteers are welcomed to take part in one or both shifts.
Note: Students who take part in 2 shifts will be awarded more points.

Lion's Walkathon Donation Cards

Hi,

As the Lion's will be holding a walkathon in feburary, they are also sendingout donation cards for the fund raising for the Lion's Home of the Elders.

So we as the Leos would have to help out in the fund raising part. Donation cards are given to us, so we need everyone to come down on the scheduled time which is attached in the email.
The cards will be distributed in the coming week from the coming Monday - Thursday.
